About our chapter
Some of the great events and activities we provide for members every year. We encourage you to get involved in something, to make the most of your membership with ASCE!
general body meetings
Join us in Kaufman 225 at our General Body Meetings, every other Thursday during Activity Hour (12:20pm-1:20pm), to hear presentations from both professors and local professionals. These can cover a variety of topics, from bridge maintenance to coastal engineering, and are delivered by engineers from firms such as Kimley-Horn, the Army Corp of Engineers, and VDOT. Students have the chance to network with these speakers, and many times the presenters come with internship or career opportunities.

ASCE Virginias regional student conference
Every year, a different school in Virginia, West Virginia, or Washington D.C. hosts the Virginias Regional Student Conference. This is a massive event that takes place over three days, and ODU sends as many as 40 students to compete in a wide range of competitions. This is the main event for ASCE student chapters every year, and we will be talking about it a lot! Everyone should seriously consider getting involved, whether in Steel Bridge, Concrete Canoe, or one of the minor competitions, which change every year depending on the host school. Contact a member of the E-Board if you are interested!
If you have any questions regarding the rules for any of the competitions, see this link.
Workshop for student chapter leaders
The annual WSCL event is held by ASCE as a leadership workshop for chapter officers along the east coast. Members of the E-Board will be able to attend this; it's always a great learning experience and a lot of fun.
