ODU ASCE NEWS 03.27.2018

Congratulations to our very own Concrete Canoe Team that placed 4th overall amongst tough competition in DC this past weekend.  Job well done by an amazing crew lead by Nick Potter.

Congratulations to the Steel Bridge Team led by our very own ASCE President Jimmy Slocum for their memorable showing at the DC conference.  Our team had the fastest overall build!

As usual, dues are due and need to be paid ASAP if you are an ODU-ASCE member.  Hint: if you are receiving this newsletter, you are a member.  You need to sign up for ASCE online on their website here: http://www.asce.org/membership/student/.  Student membership is free for the national chapter.  For ODU-ASCE: dues are free for freshmen.  For everyone else, it is $20 for the year or $10 for a semester.  Please make sure to have your dues paid as soon as possible.  It makes Tyler job easier and it reflects extremely well on our student chapter both here at ODU at with ASCE.

Our next ASCE Meeting will be held on March 29th, 2018 (1230-130, KH 213). Our featured speaker will be Dr. Paul Olsen, ODU's director of federal, commonwealth and municipal programs and partnerships, Dr. Olsen is responsible for taking Old Dominion's world-renowned research in sea level rise and the collaborations formed through projects such as the White House Sea Level Rise Pilot Project - which the University leads - and helping create operationalized policy.

Our Secretary, Sarah Bohn, has sent out an email regarding a membership form that we need members to fill out on OrgSync.  The link is provided here: https://orgsync.com/55559/forms/225003.  All you need is your email, ASCE Membership ID, and expected graduation date.  The link has information of obtaining your ID if you don’t remember or lost it.
